Description: 1929 Selmer Paris Large Bore Era Eb Baritone Saxophone SN:11437 Rare Good Pads Front F in plain brass, keyed to low Bb, on offer. The body for the Selmer Bari is in good overall shape with a couple of dents/dings and evidence of dent repairs. Please note the good size dent near the low C tone hole on the bow. The horn plays from low Bb to High F with newer tan leather pads with domed, seamless metal resonators. A regulation/adjustment to taste should be expected. The neck is in good general shape with evidence of past minor ding repair and a well repaired pick up (see photos of neck for detail). The horn will ship, packed securely, in a vintage hardshell suitable for shipping/storage. The follwing is some backgroundprovenance on this particular 1929 Selmer Paris Baritone from Douglas Pipher who is a noted collector and historian of Selmer Paris Saxophones (he is not at all affiliated with this sales listing): "I saw this instrument at Virtuosity {music store in Boston, MA} in 2016. It is a US-market Large-Bore Era Baritone which shipped from Selmer Paris in September 1929. I say Large-Bore "Era" because only the Alto had a bore change in 1928. The other types continued on from the Modèle 26 virtually unchanged. There is one unusual feature of this instrument, in that it has the extended low Bb key on the left pinky cluster. This feature was standard on UK-market Selmers at the time, and often appeared on Euro-market Selmers, but rarely appeared on US-market Selmers. Roughly 220 Large-Bore Era Baritones were built, of which only 41 are listed as being shipped to the US."
