Description: APPRAISAL PAPERWORK INCLUDED! Circa 1945 North African Beautifully rendered sculpture of a Arab Peddler in traditional garments and wearing a white turban, with large expressive eyes short beard, mouth open as if he’s announcing his merchandise to a crowd while pushing a cart filled with what appears to be dates and other fruits for sale, on a small rectangular platform, covered in gesso with hand painted detail. Signed on bottom by the artisan who created the piece, however the artist is not listed. It is a very decorative and interesting work of ethnographic folk art. In the 30s and 40s, the influence of Orientalist Art from North Africa was quite popular. Condition appropriate to its age showing signs of paint fading and several chipped areas.
