Description: STK: #BAYO-8Brought to you by CAMARILLO TRADERS specialists in new, used & antique arms, collectible militaria and rustic ephemera Interwar - WWII Era Mexican M1936 & M1954 7mm Short Rifle M1936 Knife Bayonet and Metal Scabbard Manufacturer: Scrubbed, Worn Off Model: M1936 Blade Length: Approximately 11.00" Serial #: Bayonet 12971 / Scabbard 96 TEXT GOES HERETEXT GOES HERE --> Offered here is an interwar - WWII era Mexican M1936 bayonet and scabbard for M1936 / M1954 Mauser short rifles. It has a circle-Z marking which usually is Czech markings but the Mexican manufacturers also used a circle-Z as a proof mark. We are unsure how many were made but it was a small production run and these are scarce bayonets. Overall, this bayonet is in Very Good - Very Good Plus condition, considering its age and history. The press catch is functional with average-stiff spring tension. Both the pommel and guard are securely fastened to the tang. They have light scrapes and oxidation. Their coloring has started to turn a darker gray patina color. The rivets securely fasten the wood grip panels. They have light scrapes. The grip panels have light draglines and scrapes. The finish has darkened with time. The wood may have been refinished with a layer of varnish. The knife appears straight and not bent. The blade's spine has light nicks and dings. The sides and fullers have light scrapes. There are no nicks or dings on the blade's cutting edge and the blade appears to have been lightly sharpened at some point so its original factory edge is a little bit rough. The tip is intact and comes to a sharp straight point. The blade finish is in the white. The right ricasso is marked "Z" within a circle and the left pommel is marked with the serial number "12971". The metal scabbard is in Very Good - Very Good Plus condition, considering its age and history. The bayonet slides in and out correctly. The frog stud is securely attached to the body. There is a layer of superficial oxidation, almost not worth mentioning, and scattered light scrapes. The remaining finish has turned a darker patina color. The scabbard has markings on the frog stud "69" and it may have another number that is hard to read. This bayonet and scabbard will be a great addition to your WWII era Mexican M1936 rifle, or a bayonet collection in general.
