Description: A scarce and desirable antique bronze bell push or servant call of a Dachshund dog, probably of origin in Austria. Fine detail and lovely aged patina. Measures 2 3/4" tall by 1 7/8" wide by 1 3/4" deep. The bell push was used in the homes of the wealthy to call servants. The button, sometimes ivory, was pressed to summon a servant. The cord to attach the item to the call system came out of the small hole in the back of the base. The quality of these items is a reflection of their use in upper crust homes, as they provided a pleasing decorative accent while awaiting use. This bronze is unmarked. The bell push itself is broken off level with the base (see closeup photo). It appears that there is a missing element between the dog's front legs (see closeup photo). Otherwise fine condition and a lovely addition for the bronze Dachshund collector. Please enlarge and examine all photos carefully as they are considered part of the description.
