Description: This pair of circa 1880’s tan suede gauntlet styled gloves is a type that's rarely seen on the open market. This pair came from an estate and included a hand written note testifying to their age and ownership history. The gloves are in remarkable condition. They're made of a supple suede leather on the outside and the insides are fully lined with cotton flannel. All of the sewing is by machine except for some hand finishing on the linings. The embroidery is in the style of Woodland Tribes American Indians, and I think it was done by machine because the stitches are very even and precise. It features a floral design on the sleeves and a more geometric abstract floral design on the back of the hands. All of the stitching is intact and there are no holes except for the minor wear to the leather and the frayed flannel on the top edges of the sleeves, as shown. I wear a size 7 glove and these fit me comfortably -- not too snug, but not loose. Weighs 5 oz.
