The oval-shaped pan is made of steel with baked-on enamel coating and features a double-wall construction bottom and an upper lid. It is compatible with wood, electric, gas, and propane stoves and has a heat resistance of 700 degrees. The set includes a roasting pan and lid, and is perfect for antique collectors and those who appreciate unique cookware. The blue color with white speckles will add a pop of color to any kitchen, and the enamel surface coating ensures durability. This roasting pan is an original piece, manufactured in the United States between 1900 and 1930. HISTORY - Joseph Mathey patented the “Savory” roaster on July 19, 1898, and struck a deal with Republic Metalware Co. in Buffalo, NY to manufacture his roaster. It has a unique double wall design. The inside of the curves away from the outside wall of the roaster, thus creating a double wall. Six sizes of the Savory Roaster were made from the “Junior” to the “Hotel” size. The name “Savory” is embossed on the side of the pan. This roaster is made of steel with a baked-on enamel coating. Savory roasters were manufactured for about 30-40 years; later models had the speckled enameling on them, but you don’t find many solid color ones. This roaster was cleaned with lye to remove all cooking residue. There are a couple of dings in the lid and some other spots that show many years of use. Please see Photos.
