Description: This card shows the building of Dr. Strong’s Sanitarium in Saratoga Springs, New York. It sits on a quiet corner of a tree-lined street. The sanitarium was established in 1855 by Dr. S.S. Strong and later taken over by his son Dr. S.E. Strong in 1891. It advertised that educated physicians were available for treatment of illness, diet, and mental health – all in a gentile setting including access to “the waters.” This postcard was published between 1908 and 1910 by Detroit Publishing Co. using its “Phostint” reproduction color process. #13084.
