Description: My amazing parents were married in 1969- My father was in the Navy and they traveled all over the country, in their travels they happened to be in San Francisco and my fantastic home maker mother decided it would be a good idea to buy a sourdough starter while she was there. She has fed and taken care of it ever since, like her third child! I always wondered what that strange concoction of stuff was in the pantry, if only I knew then how amazing that yeast really was maybe I would have appreciated the hundreds of fresh loaves of bread it provided for our family. I grew up my entire life with fantastic bread, dough, waffles and so on, i just thought it normal. When I left home ten-ish years ago I absolutely couldn’t go without taking half of the starter! I have maintained, loved and nourished him for the last ten years. Its time for us to share the years of enjoyment that this starter has brought to my family with yours. if you have any questions feel free to message me You will receive: Two Table spoons of this amazing strong heirloom yeast! I will mail it to you with directions on how to bring this amazing starter back to life. It’s so simple !!! I will also happily include —- Some of my favorite files of recipes on how to make awesome bread, pizza dough, pancakes, pretzels. Activating your sourdough starter is easy Mix 1/2 cup all purpose flour, 1/2 cup plus 2 tablespoons lukewarm pure water, 1 TABLESPOON OF SUGAR (THIS TIME ONLY) package of starter powder in a bowl. Cover bowl with CLING WRAP, this helps to keep the starter from drying out and forming a crust on top, and put on the counter or in a warm place. On the second day just stir it up. On the third day add an additional 1/2 cup all purpose flour and 1/2 cup of lukewarm water, stirring to mix. By 48 hours you should see bubbles and signs of life. On the fourth day add 1/2 cup lukewarm water and 1/2 cup all purpose flour. (seems to be a pattern here) Feeding your starter daily for about 5 days will help it reach full activity and flavor. At day five you may continue to keep your starter at room temperature feeding it daily or put it in the refrigerator and feed it at least once weekly. The secret to successful sourdough baking is FRESHLY FED STARTER !
