Speelman as Register of the Treasury and Frank White as Treasurer of The United States. This note has engraved bank signatures of H.R. Gaither as cashier of the bank, and E.W. Wilson as Bank President. Engraved Signatures were applied at the Bureau of Engraving and Printing during the banknote printing process, they were incorporated into the existing Black Plate from the bank and the holding lines under the Cashier and president were then removed. “Pacific National Bank of San Francisco, California” was organized in September of 1924. The bank issued a total of $7,022,590.00 in National Currency from September 1924 until July of 1935 when National Banknote Currency printing ended. The total issue of Large Size notes issued was 436,412 banknotes. There were 21 National Banks that issued large size National Currency in San Francisco, California. Only eight banks were more common! The note is cut into the design framework along the bottom margin on the obverse. There are years of dirt and soil on both sides from circulation. I see approximately 25 pinholes most of which are in the vertical center fold. I also see a few very minor divots in the bottom margin and a 1/16 of an inch split in the top margin at the centerfold. I grade this note as a Fine, but you look at the scans and judge the grade for yourself before bidding. The Kelly Census shows 58 large size notes reported on this bank. There are 28 - $5.00 1902 Plain Backs, 19 - $10.00 1902 Plain Backs and 11 - $20.00 1902 Plain Backs reported. This note is new to the census, the new owner can report this note, if they so choose. This note would make a fine addition to any California National Banknote collection! This bank is located in San Francisco County, so it should appeal to people collecting National Banknotes from that and the surrounding counties. This note should also appeal to people collecting Engraved Signature on Large Size National Banknote that were issued by the BEP. Don’t let this note get away!
