Instead, when the water level rises, the pump turns on. When all water is removed, the pump will shut itself off. In addition, Rule Mate's sensor has unique "field effect" technology that only recognizes water. This means that if it detects a 100% concentration of oil, the pump will not activate. As such, Rule Mates are considered to be the most technically-advanced bilge pumps available on the market.
