Description: On offer is a rare boxed set of three anniversary plates (jubileumstallrikar) commemorating Rörstrand’s 250th anniversary in 1976. Designed by Niels-Christian Held, the three plates are meant to illustrate how Rörstrand’s approach to the manufacturing of porcelain — and porcelain’s use in people’s everyday lives — changed over the centuries. There are three plates included in this collection. Each plate is encased in its original two-piece Styrofoam protective cover, as well as in its original decorative shipping container. There is also an insert included with each plate (Pictures 4 & 5) that provides some historical information on the Rörstrand factory, as well as commentary on each plate’s design. Sjuttonhundratalet (1700s plate):Represents how porcelain items were largely used by the wealthy. “Place settings” had not yet come into fashion, so the porcelain primarily produced during this period included larger, more dramatic pieces of serveware, such as platters and tureens.Adertonhundratalet (1800s plate): Represents how larger services were coming into fashion, with wealthy households having services that accommodated as many as 36 guests.Nittonhundratalet (1900s plate): Represents how during the 20th century, porcelain dinnerware was becoming more accessible and more casual and utilitarian — not as frilly and ornate as in centuries past. Understanding that the original boxes is what gives this collection its value, I will make every attempt to ship these items in a way that prevents any water damage or crushing during transit. Condition Report: The plates in this collection are in excellent, near-mint condition. The boxes are in very good condition. There is no evidence of any damage or repair to any of the porcelain components in this set. There is truthfully very little to fault with any of the plates in this collection. These items are from an estate where they were never wall-mounted — they have been carefully stored away since their purchase in Stockholm in the late-1970s. All edges are smooth and free of fleabites, and oblique lighting reveals no evidence crazing (craquelure). Each of the three boxes is in very good shape, but there are spots on some boxes where the blue coloring has slightly degraded over time. Additional, there are residual marks from taping that was used, and some slight scuffing of the cardboard itself. (This is most noticeable on the rear of the 1900s box, Nittonhundratelt, Picture 18). For the serious Rörstrand enthusiast, this represents a rare opportunity to own three plates that were produced only during a very limited period to celebrate the 250th anniversary of the founding of this venerable porcelain factory. Each plate is signed on the rear by Niels-Christian Had. Shipping: The listed shipping is for buyers in the contiguous United States. If you reside in Alaska or Hawaii, please contact me for a shipping quote. My auctions are currently closed to international customers, but if you reside outside the US and are interested in bidding, please reach out to me. (Please understand that I am not responsible for any duties or delays imposed by Customs in your country, and I cannot declare any items shipped to you for less than their sale price.) Since I am a new seller, for auction lots with more than one item, I may use an outside packing service in order to help ensure that your purchase arrives damage-free. Fragile collectibles will be double-boxed where appropriate and practical. Return Policy: As a longtime buyer of vintage pottery, I understand that disappointments sometimes happen. Terms like “excellent” and “near mint” are subjective, meaning wildly different things to different people. And it can be difficult to agree on when “wear and tear consistent with age” has ventured into the territory of actual damage. Rather than quibble, if you are dissatisfied with any item that you purchase from me, for any reason, simply return it to me within 14 days in the condition in which it was sent, and I will happily refund your money. I will pay for return shipping costs, but regrettably, I cannot refund outbound shipping and handling fees in such cases. Of course, should an item sustain any damage during transit, you will receive a complete refund. (In the event that a multi-item shipment sustains only partial damage, please contact me so that we can work out a satisfactory solution.) All I ask in return is that you document any damage, retain all packing materials, and assist me during the claims process. In my experience, the best transactions are ones where there is open, honest communication on both sides. My goal is to find happy homes for these treasures, with the hope that they will bring their new owners as much joy as they’ve brought me. About Me: I have been an avid Blue Fire (Blå Eld) and Koka Blue (Koka Blå) collector for almost 20 years. I own over 400 pieces in each line, so if you are hunting for something in particular, please reach out to me – there’s a good chance that I have what you’re looking for. I absolutely love chatting with other Rorstrand enthusiasts! Finally, don’t be afraid to ask questions. I’d rather be deluged with questions than to have my buyers experience one drop of regret with any item that I sell. _gsrx_vers_1652 (GS 9.7.4 (1652))
