Description: Antique Rochester Optical Empire State Improved model (1903-1909+) wooden folding 5x7 in. field camera with Goertz Dagor 7" 1:6.8 lens in a Goertz shutter. The bellows is complete but it has holes. The lens is a later fitment judging by the Burke & James lens ring and the work done to the lens board which you can see in the photos. The shutter only works in T mode. The aperture works correctly. The lens has haze and surface scratches. The wood of the camera is in good condition. However there is a section of the bed (on the bottom of the left strut) that has been cracked and glued at some time in the past. The strut is structurally sound and the crack does not run though the whole strut, it can be seen in the photos. There is some wrinkling of the varnish but it has a nice patina. The focusing rack works correctly and smoothly. If one was so inclined the camera could be fitted with a new bellows and made to work. This is a nice old girl that would be a good user
