The Film was directed by Eugene Lourie, with the special effects by the amazing Ray Harryhausen. The screenplay is based on Ray Bradbury's 1951 short story "The Fog Horn", specifically the scene where a lighthouse is destroyed by the title character. The film's story concerns a fictional dinosaur, the Rhedosaurus, which is released from its frozen hibernating state by an atomic bomb test in the Arctic Circle.[5] The beast begins to wreak a path of destruction as it travels southward, eventually arriving at its ancient spawning grounds, which includes New York City. Traditionally sculpted by the artisans of the famed creature shop of Kaibutsuya, this detailed Rhedosaurus statue is made from soft vinyl. The Rhedosaurus's impressive dimensions are 12.59"H X 7.87"W X 20.08"D and weighs approximately 10 lbs. boxed.
