Click images to enlarge Description Up for Consideration is a Wonderful Extremely Rare Early 19th Century Scrimshaw Bovine Ox-Bone "War of 1812" Era Patriotic "Liberty & Victory" Folk Art Letter Opener / Knife! c1790-1820 The Letter Opener measures 10.0 inches long by 0.50 inch wide and has wonderful Scratch Art showing "Liberty" and "Victory"on either side of the handle. Note the incredible craftmanship, espeshally the early iron rivets that hold the Handle and Blade intact. This piece is Very old and is definatly a late 18th to the early 19th Century and definatly made during Wartime! Each piece of folk art tells their own story and this knife style / letter opener speaks for itself. All in All a Very Scarce Piece of Americana and Sailor Folk Art! Condition of this piece is wonderful considering it's age. Came out of an Important Antique Collection from a former Museum in Worcester, Massachusetts. RARE PIECE!
