Description: Up for sale is a vintage industrial French Socit Nationale des Chemins de Fer Franais (SNCF) railway telephone. It looks like it dates back to the 50s or 60s, judging from the components in it. I'm selling it AS IS, and it is untested. It looks to have all of its components inside. This one doesn't have bells on the bottom, so it might have only been used to only call out. I didn't need to open the top since I can tell the generator is there by turning the power switch. The last one of these to sell in Aug of 2015 did not have the porcelain lettered in French plaque at the top. Phone is made of mostly aluminum and measures about 22" long X 8" wide at the brackets. These are really difficult to find. Please ask me any questions before bidding. History of SNCF: The Socit nationale des chemins de fer franais (French pronunciation: [ssjete nsjnal de ()m d() f fs]; abbreviated as SNCF [sn se f]; French for "French National Railway Company") is France's national state-owned railway company. Founded in 1938, it operates the country's national rail traffic along with Monaco, including the TGV, on France's high-speed rail network. Its functions include operation of railway services for passengers and freight (through its subsidiaries SNCF Voyageurs and Rail Logistics Europe), as well as maintenance and signalling of rail infrastructure (SNCF Rseau). The railway network consists of about 35,000 km (22,000 mi) of route, of which 2,600 km (1,600 mi) are high-speed lines and 14,500 km (9,000 mi) electrified. About 14,000 trains are operated daily.
