Description: Rare vintage carved early galalith or casein beaded necklace. I'm on the fence as to which one (galalith or casein) - it has an unpleasant smell when tested under hot water. I bought this probably 10 years ago from a collector in a batch of amber and bakelite (those pieces are not included with this listing). I initially thought it was amber due to the fact that it fluoresces under black light, but due to smell and many years of experience collecting amber, I just don't believe that it is amber. Also, it is not bakelite. Condition: Beads show crazing. General light surface wear including tiny chips and scratching. One bead shows some surface damage (see close up photo). Stringing/knotting appears original and intact, but I recommend restringing vintage beaded items for security. *Jewelry contains small parts or components which could pose a choking hazard if ingested.
