Description: Rare Vintage 1950s Marusan MUSICAL BULLDOG Playing Piano Bat.Op Tin Toy WORKING!Description: This is a quite rare vintage "Musical Bulldog"(*) playing piano battery operated toy. This big, beautiful and desirable toy depicts a caricaturized bulldog playing his piano seated on a red and black bench, set on a colorful base. He moves his arms up and down, like playing piano, while he smokes his illuminated cigar and puffs actual smoke from his mouth. Nice chime tones can be heard from the piano. It is all made of plush-covered tin, molded cardboard and litho tin. He is dressed in a light blue jacket with green and white stripe trousers. Made in Japan by Marusan & Co., circa 1950s. Dimensions:8-½" tall x 6" x 9" base (21.5 x 15 x 23 cm) Condition: This almost unplayed with toy is 100% original and it works perfectly in all its functions. It still retains all the original gloss on the tin parts. The battery case shows some oxidation and a white paint touch up on one of the sides. It has a minor staining on the trousers. Otherwise, very good overall condition. (*) This Bulldog toy is somewhat rare when it comes to 50s battery ops, rating an #8 (out of 10) on the Don Hultzman rarity scale.
