Description: Beautiful antique late 1800's Simon & Halbig 939 German bisque closed mouth doll. The back of the head is marked "S 15 H 939".She is the more desirable closed mouth variation of the 939 mold. Larger size 15 head, overall length is approx. 27" She features full elongated cheeks, deep blue glass paperweight eyes, painted lashes, brushstroked brows, accented eye corners, shaded nostrils, closed mouth with defined space between the outlined lips, dimpled chin, pierced ears. Early composition over wood ball-jointed body with straight wrists. CONDITION: I found no breaks or cracks o her head after inspecting with a flashlight. There is some material scrape on the helix of her right ear (see image #10) and some firing imperfections around the top where the ear connects to the head (see images #12-13). It appears as though there's been some color retouching around the two holes on the sides of her head (see images #11). The body has some areas where the top layer of composition has fallen off, most noticeable on the back of her leg and on her ball joints. It also looks like the hands have been repainted. The wig and dress look like a more modern addition, but the shoes look old. The dress has a couple tears on the lace areas.
