Description: This is a very rare copy of Modern Cabinet Work, Furniture and Fitments: An Account of the Theory and Practice in the Production of All Kinds of Cabinet Work and Furniture With Chapters on the Growth and Progress of Design and Construction Illustrated by Over 1000 Practical Workshop Drawings, Photographs and Original Design, written by two British experts, Percy Wells and John Hooper. It has been selected by scholars as being culturally important. The book was originally published in 1909. Then it was revised and re-printed, with new and additional illustrations, and then it was revised again and re-printed again, three times. So this is the fourth edition, published in 1924, and then re-printed in 1928. A fifth edition was published in 1938. Copies of these printings are very hard to find. It is a heavy book. 386 pages with pull-out spreads, photographs, charts and loads of illustrations. There is some splitting to the outer cover, at the spine. The two front endpapers have come loose. The original owner wrote his name, tinily, on the title page; the second owner wrote his name on the front endpaper. But it's completely readable; other than a little soiling on the cover and normal darkening of the paper, it's perfect. BONUS: This book comes with the Thomas J. Glover Pocket Ref, no extra charge.
