DESCRIPTION:Offered for your review and consideration is this 24 3/4" in height, monumental, mid-20th century, post-WWII American vintage Brutalist welded, torched, soldered and 100% hand-built, Modernist metal figurative sculpture, on a solid metal block base. Both traditional lead solder, as well as brass solder are used in finishing the metal sculpture's surfaces. Steel sheet strips, possibly metal scraps from a junkyard are welded to wire. Small pieces of both steel and brass are then welded into place and finished with both lead and brass solder. The artist doesn't conceal the fact that old-fashioned metal wire coat hangers were used in its construction, with the top of a coat hanger remaining visible and quite recognizable as the figure's head, located at the apex of the large, 23 3/4" in overall height, metal sculpture. A human figure, most likely a man, is seen reeling backwards, with his body forming a kind of inverted arch, with the form seeming to balance on the pads of the figure's feet. A thrilling vintage Brutalist abstract figurative metal sculpture. Original. Real. Authentic. CONDITION:Very Good to Excellent overall vintage condition.
