Description: RARE Long Stem ‘WDC William Demuth Co’ Briar Pipe, late 19th C, 12 1/2” L Pipe Bowl: hand-carved Briar Wood stamped with gilded maker’s logo: WDC Top of shank has silver-tone cap with maker’s logo: WDC Stem and Mouthpiece: Vulcanite Shank and stem wrapped with gold-colored thread,ending in 2 red silk tassels (tassels are worn). Condition: Very Fine (only loss is on silk red tassels). All original components. Length: 12 1/2 inches The William Demuth Company is known for the famous trademark, WDC in an inverted equilateral triangle. In 1862, William Demuth (Wilhelm C. Demuth, 1835-1911), a native of Germany, established his company. The William Demuth Company specialized in pipes, smoker's requisites, cigar-store figures, canes and other carved objects.
