George Davis uses his very humorous sailing yacht as a microcosm of Nantucket seceding (Sea-Seed) with the noticeable addition of the Nantucket Yacht Club chevron/flag. This very funny framed print was created in 1977 when Nantucket was seriously discussing seceding from the dictates of Massachusetts. The artwork is made from high-quality paper and showcases the intricate comedic details of this very funny nautical/Nantucket artwork. Of all of George Davis’ artworks this is by far the one I enjoy the most. It makes me smile every time I see it. The “Sea-Seed Nantucket” is signed “geo. davis in pencil on the bottom right, dated 1977 on the bottom left and numbered “4/100 in the center. This rare print is in perfect condition with no damage or fading of any kind. I regret there are some shadows or dot of light in some of the pictures because of my poor picture taking. Those are merely reflections as there is no damage. The actual Sea-Seed Nantucket artwork is in as perfect condition as it was when it was created almost 50 years ago by the artist George Davis. The image measures 12 inches in width and 16 inches in height and the print itself measures 17 inches in width and 21 inches in height. The print with frame made on Nantucket measures approximately 18 inches in width and 21 and 3/4 inches in height. The same very humorous framed Sea-Seed Nantucket artwork by George Davis you see pictured will be the same one you will receive and is guaranteed authentic. This was probably purchased by my parents in 1977 when we resided in the East Brick on Nantucket for many years.
