It was a commemorative item from the company's 50th Anniversary 1876-1926. This metal letter opener is very study, measures 10", and has brass plated designs...the front states: Eli Lilly, 1838-1898, Founder of Eli Lilly and Company, Indianapolis 1876, Fiftieth Anniversary 1926. It also shows a picture of Eli Lilly. The back brass plated design states: Eli Lilly and Company, Indianapolis, 1876-1926 and shows a picture of the original Lilly replica building (1876) and a picture of the pharmaceutical plant (1926). Each side of the opener has the recognizable red Lilly script embossed and fixed on brass. The craftsmanship on this piece is beautiful! This would be a wonderful addition to any Lilly collection, or fans of historical artifacts and memorabilia. Thanks for taking a look!
