Description: For sale is an 18th or early 19th century primitive hand carved burl bowl with fantastic and very clear burl grain patterns. Old patina that speaks for itself. Being from America with hand carved evidence and an imperfect overall shape it is of possibly of Native American Origin. This bowl is made from a burl which is a large rounded knot of dormant bud growths. This deformed growth pattern on trees yields a very dense wood with fantastic grain patterns that are highly sought after in the woodworking field even today. Antique burl wares have additional time worn aesthetics that make them very precious. It measures 8" in diameter at the top rim (slightly off round by design), and 4” tall. Good condition. It is clean and dry, no odor, would display well on a farm table at your home. There are stable aged cracks and age appropriate wears and natural imperfections in the wood commensurate with age. Please check all photos for detailed condition. Ship with careful packaging and full insurance. Check out my other antique primitive and collectible listings. I gladly combine shipping whenever practical.
