Description: A small blackware vessel from southern Italy and dating to approximately 350 B.C. This piece was the property of a U.S. diplomat in the 1960s before going into a private collection in St. Louis. It is approximately 2 3/4" in diameter and 1 1/8" tall. At the bowl's estimated time of origin, some areas in Italy's South were populated by Greek settlers (see Magna Graecia). Their presence led to the hellenization of some of the region's indigenous population. Please note that we do not import or export ancient items. Additionally, our items typically come from people and businesses that we know and trust.
