Rare 1990s Mickey Mouse RAYS FLAT EARS Pressed Elongated Penny Disneyland DL0015

Description: Rare 1990s MICKEY MOUSE RAYS FLAT EARS Pressed Elongated Penny Disneyland DL0015 A very deep and defined pressing when you run your fingers over the pattern. This pattern was retired from use at Disneyland. This pressed penny Disneyland pattern has the rays, rays interspersed with the border dots (not 100% dots as a border), Mickey and Mouse on either side of the Mickey face, Large ears, Disneyland on the bottom, and what looks like a copyright line under Mouse. While looking at this under a magnifying glass the ears appear to be the flat version and not the puffy version. Please see attached pictures closely. Penny is/was a 1989 D. It is a copper-zinc penny which was pressed, and even though a lot of the zinc shows it is not one of the pure nickel pressings. It is about 1.25" wide and 0.75" tall, horizontal pressing, not a vertical pressing. It made an unusual pressing with the copper layer shifted slightly over the zinc layer, and also a darker layer so you see a different reflection depending on the angle that you look at it. This is visible in the attached pictures as I move the camera around at different angles. Of the Disneyland pressed pennies Series DL0015 with the flat ears and Mickey Mouse with rays was in use 1981-1995. It was retired, and was replaced with DL0019/DR0019 which was the puffy ears version from 1995-1998. Being local here in Southern California we've been to Disneyland many times over the decades. Today we were cleaning out our box of old SoCal tokens from various theme parks and found a few of our pressed pennies in there including this one.
