Description: Six (6) Roly Poly glasses created for members of the U.S. Navy's OPERATION DEEP FREEZE. These came from the estate of an ex-Seabee who had been part of TASK FORCE 43, which provided the logistics for Antarctic portion of the "International Geophysical Year 1957–58". Members of the Navy in Operation Deep Freeze were the very first Americans to set foot on the South Pole in 1956. ~ Disney Studios filmed the expedition and Walt Disney himself designed the Task Force 43 logo used on these glasses, for which he was made an honorary member. ~ Glasses measure just over 3 1/4" tall and 3 1/4" in diameter at the rim.
