Then when you get your thumb nail or paring knife in the joint, you pry it open - but not too far. You have to hold the two pieces apart while you work around the joint with your fingers to open it. These capsules are used, hand inspected for quality before shipment, and will not include any cracks or major scratches. There may be a minor mark or two from the Mint; but overall, these capsules are in excellent condition. Hint: If you receive a capsule with a mark, place the mark over an area of the coin that is not just the plain fluid field - in other words, place it over Lady Liberty or the Eagle, and it will not be as visible.
