Description: United States Postal History Cover & Advertisement - a cover postmarked April 27, 1907 from Providence, Rhode Island and addressed to Gum Spring, Virginia. On the back side the postmarks at Gum Spring, Virginia and also Goodhland, Virginia. The cover has a return address apparently in Japanese, and the words Providence R.I. Comes with a full size page from Japanese Importing Company, Caroline Osgood, Manager, Sole Proprietors of "TA-KA-HA-RA-WA" and the Famous "KULOMI" Japanese Toilet Articles, 193 Westminster Street, Providence, R. I. The letter is a lengthy sales pitch for a product and for the prospective customer to remit partial payment to try the item. Evidently, a hair remover product. The letter appears to be hand written, but probably is printed that way to give the appearance of a personal inscribed letter. The letterhead had multiple images of Japanese people. The cover is not good condition - rough opened at the right side with a tear into that side, and also the top side, age browning in places, bends, creases, etc. The letter advertisement is fine condition, small bend at upper right corner, has been folded twice an over once to fit the cover, some wrinkles, etc. A nice item for the specialist collector.
