Just very recently it has been discovered that narwhals use their mystical horn to whack and stun the fish they feed so their prey is easier to catch and gobble up. Male narwhals occasionally dive up to 1,500 m (4,920 ft) in depth, with dives lasting up to 25 minutes. With a lifespan of up to 50 years, these sea creatures can go around the (ice) block a few times. The current population of the narwhal is about 75,000, so narwhals qualify for Near Threatened under the criterion of the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN).
