Description: PRINTS FROM THE MOURLOT PRESS 1964 LIMITED EDITION 1ST PRINTING OF THESE LITHOGRAPHS. As I understand it this small soft cover book is the catalogue of an exhibition commissioned and sponsored by the French Ambassador in Washington to commemorate many years of Franco-American friendship. The exhibition itself was circulated by the Traveling Exhibition Service of the National Collection of Fine Arts of the Smithsonian Institution during 1964-1965. Please find then a copy of this now rather scarce book titled: “Prints from the Mourlot Press” organized by Fernand Mourlot himself who selected the artists and supervised the production of the lithographs displayed with the Exhibition and reproduced in this Catalogue. This small softcover book (7 ½ x 10 inches 78 pages) was published with the lithographs printed on the presses of the Mourlot Press. This copy is complete with 22 lithographs still in vivid colors and other illustrations presented in the book. The artists involved included: Pablo Picasso, Joan Miro, Marc Chagall, Georges Braque, Henri Matisse, Alexander Calder, Alberto Giacometti, Jean Cocteau, Jacques Villon and others Please see the photo of the Table of Contents for your further information on the artists who participated in this undertaking and whose lithographs and other works were first reproduced in this book issued in a limited edition of 2000 copies.Condition: This book is in very good condition. The soft covers of stiff cardboard are a bit darkened along the top edges and there is some very light edge wear. Inside a former owner has left his inked name on the first blank page but this is the only mark in the book. The binding is still tight and sound although it is cracked along the front hinge. This book is not ex-library or a remainder.Shipping: This book will be very carefully packed, with bubble wrap and solid cardboard protection and promptly mailed upon payment. Please note that I do not charge for packing and handling; all you pay is the postage and sometimes not all of that!
