Description: Pre Civil War Republic of Texas * Army * staff coat button. This button is listed as TX202 A.1. in Tice. It was made by Scovills in 1840. The front has a killer design and nice gold. The reverse has a depressed, c.1840, * J. M. L. & W. H. SCOVILL * WATERBURY EXTRA SUPERFINE backmark. The shank is straight. A collector sprayed a light coat of poly on the back for whatever reason. I just left it as it isn't doing any harm. This button measures 23 mm in diameter. It is issue free. The pictures show its exact condition. Please look at my other listings.
