Description: Steering gear structure description; Three year quality assurance ! Key Features; For a regular commuter car, the optimal form of steering is power steering. Power steering racks will have an extra component, the power steering pump, that will supply high-pressure fluid to rack, providing hydraulic power assist. This makes steering significantly easier for the driver. Rack-and-pinion steering is quickly becoming the most common type of steering on cars, small trucks and SUVs. The rack-and-pinion gearset does two things: It converts the rotational motion of the steering wheel into the linear motion needed to turn the wheels. It provides a gear reduction, making it easier to turn the wheels. Depending on the mechanics experience, the installation should take about 3 hours. If youre planning on doing the work yourself, we suggest to put aside about 6 hours and take your time. Labor costs will vary depending on the mechanic. Are power steering racks easy to install? It all comes down to how comfortable you are with working on your car. If you have little or no automotive knowledge or experience, we strongly recommend you take this to a certified mechanic to have the part properly installed and avoid possible failure or further damage to your vehicle. A bad installation can lead to much more costly repairs, so you should not risk it. Do you include the tie rod ends with the steering racks? Some steering racks will come with the inner tie rod ends and/or outer tie rod ends. Some steering racks will not, but we will always specify in the product description. all of our products come exactly as pictured. How to Replace a Power Steering Rack?? 1.Drain the power steering fluid, loosen the front wheel nuts and jack up the car. Once the vehicle is properly supported on the jack stands, remove the front wheel lug nuts and the wheels. 2.Disconnect the tie rodsDetach the clamps connecting the steering column to the piston. Disconnect the outer rod ends using a special tie rod separator or ball joint fork. Loosen the nuts and turn the rods. 3.Remove the faulty steering rackInsert a drainage pan under the car to catch any fluid and unbolt the power steering rack from its seating. Remove the rack via one of the wheel wells. Use plenty of effort, patience and ingenuity. 4.Install the new power steering rackUsing the same exit point as your entry point, insert the replacement rack into position using the required force. Measure the length of the old rack to determine the precise positions of the tie and cotter pins. Insert the pins in the new rack. 5.Reattach the hoses, except the steering fluid reservoir return line. Replace the components that were removed to enable access to the rack, together with the front wheels. 6.Bleed the power steering systemStart the car. Turn the steering wheel back and forth for about 15 minutes to release air trapped in the system. Turn off the engine and let it stand before topping up the reservoir with fluid. If the fluid is light brown in colour or has foam on the top, repeat the process until the fluid is clear. Reattach the reservoir hose, remove the drainage pan, lower the car and tighten the wheel nuts. Note: In order to ensure the normal operation of the steering gear, relevant parts shall be cleaned as much as possible before installation. 1.In order to avoid the fault caused by the dirt entering the steering oil circuit, the plug on each oil port of steering pump of steering gear shall be opened before connecting the oil pipe, and the oil pipe and plug shall be carefully cleaned and deburred. 2. Turn the steering wheel to the straight ahead position. 3. Clean the mounting bracket of the steering gear and relevant mating surfaces of the steering gear. 4. For the adjustable steering column, use a suitable rope to pass through the space of the cross fork of the steering shaft, hang the steering shaft, and connect the steering shaft and the input shaft of the steering gear. 5. Turn the steering gear to the middle position to align the relevant marks at the input end and output end of the steering gear. 6. Install the steering gear on the mounting base and tighten the fixing bolts. 7. Universal joint or coupling between mounting column and steering gear. 8. For the adjustable steering column, the upper end seal of the steering gear shall not be damaged when the universal joint is installed. 9. Keep the steering wheel in straight ahead position. 10. Put the pitman arm on the steering gear to align the two marks. 10. Tighten the locknut according to the specified torque and rivet (anti loose pit)
