Description: THIS beautiful Limoges PL dinner plate has such a timeless pattern at first I thought it was new when we found it in my mother in law’s estate. And then I noticed that the gold was definitely hand-painted on it and that it said Limoges. I thought the rest was a decal until I got to looking closer and I can see brush marks in the blue areas and then I noticed that even the black which I was sure must be a decal because it is so crisp and well done, has many variations in it including one minuscule mistake of a double painted petal.( see photos). This backstamp seems to coordinate with back stamps from 1890 to 1919 and the art nouveau/arts and craft style fits quite well With that. There is also an unglazed impressed stamp about a quarter inch across on the back that looks a bit like a flying bird in a triangle. But it’s so small I can’t tell. Please see the photo. I’ve looked in vain to find the name of this pattern. The motif is somewhat like a blue bell or possibly an orchid. It’s really a quite beautiful plate. My mother in law collected antiques and probably picked this up just because she thought it was beautiful. we are sure it’s been stored for at least 25 years, but it is probably some thing she bought even before that probably in the 1980s. And then it was antique. There are no chips or cracks and it’s in beautiful shape probably due to sitting in her China closet all that time and never even being handled. A beautiful piece for a China collector to own. If anyone knows the name of this pattern I’d love you to message that to me. we aren’t experts in antique porcelain at all. In fact I don’t know how to tell if this is porcelain or bone china. But I can see that the gold is hand-painted and I know from my art history training about the style. We are selling many vintage items from her house and we will happily combine shipping and answer any questions we can. So please check out her other items
