Description: Commemorative 1 Piso Coin to celebrate the 150th Birth Anniversary of General Isidoro Torres. Born on the 10th of April 1866 in Matimbo, Malolos, Isidoro was the son of Florencio Torres and Maria Dayao. He finished his secondary education at the Kolehiyo San Juan De Letran and his Bachelor's Degree at the University of Santo Thomas. He served as the Cabeza De Barangay for 3 years, 1890-1892. He joined the Katipunan in 1892 and was known as the "Matang Lawin" or "Hawk Eye". He took part in various battles at the Bridge of Bagbag, Kalumpit, San Rafael, Binakod, and Barasoain, from 1896-1899. He attained the rank of Colonel when the fighting raged around Biak-Na-Bato in 1897. He was a member of the Malolos Congress in 1898. He became the Gobernador Militar De La Plaza, with the rank of Brigader General in 1898. He established Guerilla Forces when Malolos fell into the hands of General Arthur MacArthur on the 31st of March, 1899. He served as Justice of the Peace for San Antonio, Nueva Ejica from 1909-1912. He died on the 8th of December, 1928. This coin was minted by the Bangko Sentral Ng Pilipinas. It is still in it's mint issued card & holder. I have listed other coins and notes from the Philippines.
