Description: WWII Memorabilia COLLECTORS! Check this out! Rare Wooden Pilot’s Rear Control Stick and Rudder Pedal with Hangar Assembly. The wooden sticks were used during WWII in the early models of the North American Aviation AT-6 “Texan” Aircraft. During WWII these Pilot’s Control Sticks were made out of wood because of the shortages of aluminum. The socket that the wood stick goes into is made of aluminum. These types of wooden sticks were later replaced with aluminum sticks. The Rudder Pedal & Hangar Assemblies were used in all AT-6 and SNJ Models. The same Pedal was also used in the P-51 Mustang and B-25 Mitchell but the hangars were different. The first six photos are of the Stick & Rudder Pedal Assembly that is listed. Items have NOT been cleaned and are in their “as removed” natural patina and a little dirty. The seventh photo shows a similar SNJ / AT-6C wooden stick and bare rudder pedal in a display case with other WWII era aircraft collectible memorabilia items with a blueprint of the North American AT-6 “Texan” in the background. The Stick in the display case was sanded and varnished and the grip area was painted black. NOTE: the display case and other items in it are NOT part of this lot. It is only to show what you can do to display the control stick and rudder pedal. Add your other WWII Aviation memorabilia to the Stick and make your own display.
