The invasion of the Warsaw Pact troops into Czechoslovakia, also referred to by the communist party as the entry of allied troops, with the code name: Danube operation, was a military invasion by the troops of the five socialist countries of the Warsaw Pact (Soviet Union, Hungary, Poland, Bulgaria and GDR) led by the Soviet Union, which meant the following 23-year military occupation of the Czechoslovak territory, the halting and reversal of ongoing democratization reforms.On Wednesday, August 21, 1968, foreign troops occupied most of the strategic places throughout Czechoslovakia (they entered the territory of the Czechoslovakia on Tuesday, August 20, before midnight, and on August 21, at 2:00 a.m., the first airborne unit landed at Ruzyn Airport in Prague).
