You can see a picture of the saddle in the Horstmann Brothers Catalog No. 73 of 1888.Notice: Single row of brass screws, rings held on by iron staples. The saddle has brass mountings. The cut-out in the leather skirt for stirrup straps, is the same as in the Horstmann saddle. Civil War style stirrups - 3" wide. Civil War style crupper and Civil War style cinch. Stirrup straps have japanned roller buckles. The brass shield has no size. There are no leather leg guards, but as it states in the catalog (Special pattern saddles made to order). This saddle has coat strap plates like the Civil War Officer's saddle. The saddle is in excellent condition for its age. No replacement parts, all stitching intact, does show wear & used.
