Description: This is an original Indian War era Horstmann Brothers Kepi hat / cap. US Government issue, May 3, 1893 Contract. The cap is in fair condition given it's age. The insignia is loose, there are several small holes in the fabric, the sweatband is worn with U.S.Q.M.D. (United States Quartermaster Department) stamp and the initials BFW inked on it (Benjamin Franklin Williams was from southern Michigan (1852-1940)). The silk lining is loose but still intact, the bill and chin strap are in pretty good condition and so are the eagle side buttons. Please look at all photos as they tell more than I can about the condition of it.
