Description: Up for sale is a charcoal drawing my father Stuart Jones did "en plein air" in the '90s in Lancaster County PA of the Amish harvesting I believe tobacco leaves. He got to know many Amish families who let them draw them and would bring him lemonade or ice tea between posing. It was some of his favorite subject matter. This charcoal drawing is on a laid type paper 8 1/2 x 11". He never printed this to my knowledge, never framed. But one of his favorites as he kept it in a different portfolio which I discovered once again cleaning my studio a few months back. He did a wonderful job of capturing the specific type of work mule? that they use. Nice detail to the Amish man as well. Very nice rendering. He drew nearly every day for over 80 years, starting around 14, throughout the war when possible, and never stopping until his eyes failed at around 94. Very prolific. His art is all around our house and in many portfolios but we do sell some of his work that he would have wanted others to enjoy. He was also a prolific portrait artist from the 60s to 90s. Best of luck in bidding. Please search our store for other vintage and antique collectibles.
