The map locates the lands of a number of Native American Indian Nations, including the Modoe, Klamath, Spokane, Palouse, Cayouse, Yakima, Shoshone, Molallalas, and Colville, as well as an area southeast of Mt. Hood labeled "Scattered Bands of Indians." Also shown are an early railroad in Washington, between Vancouver and St. Helen in Clarke County, and a railroad in western Oregon through the cities of Salem, Albany, Eugene, and Rosenburg, as well as a network of wagon trails. Among the other specific named places and features are Camp Maury, Owyhee Mining District, Fort Dalles, Port Orford, Chemekane Mission, Camp Stuart, Diamond Peak, Mt. Ranier, Sterling Mines, Fort Stevens, Blue Mountains Gold Mines, Cowlitz Farm, Olympia, Portland, Walla Walla, and Seattle. The image area measures 39 x 29 cm [15½" x 11½"], and longitude is measured from Greenwich and Washington. The map was published as Plate 81 in The New Topographical Atlas of the State of Ohio, with Descriptions Historical, Scientific, and Statistical; together with Maps of the United States and Territories; H.F. Walling & O.W. Gray, by Stedman, Brown & Lyon, Cincinnati, 1872. Condition: It is in very good condition, bright and clean, with no marks, rips, or tears.
