Our Dittany Superior quality organically grown dittany that is carefully harvested and processed to bring out all the aromas and flavor of the native aromatic plant. Diktamos (Origanum dictamnus) is endemic to Crete and grows naturally in practically all the mountains of the island and not only in Dikti (Lasithian mountains) as its name suggests. It spreads from sea level up to 1,600 m. exclusively in cliffs and gorges (obligatory chasmophyte). It is a small plant with a length of 30 to 40 cm, very strong smell and taste, its leaves are relatively small but plump, and covered with fluff, its flowers are violet in color. This limited production is harvested during flowering from May to September and dried naturally.As a seasoning, it suits seafood "dishes", cool salads and soft cheeses. It is usually used in the form of a decoction,replacing tea with a ratio of 1 g of dictam to 100 g of water.
