Organic Chicory Cichorium Intybus Perennial Medicinal Herb~2022 Seeds/Stratified

Description: NOTE: I try to keep the cost with free shipping on small seed orders as low as possible by using first class letter mail without tracking. It works well, but sometimes is a little slow and very occasionally they don't show up at all. In order to be able to keep using this low cost service on Ebay, PLEASE do not open a case if you do not receive the seed order. There is no way for me to provide tracking for an open case, and they punish me for USPS mail failures. JUST MESSAGE ME DIRECTLY and let me know you haven't received them, and I'll resend them out for you. Look for the seeds (unless you pay for first class package with tracking) in your regular letter mail in a white envelope with a butterfly or flower sticker on it. UPDATE: ANYONE WHO OPENS A CASE BEFORE CONTACTING ME WILL GET BLOCKED!!!! I'm over it..... I'm no longer going to resend seeds if you open a case. I'm REQUIRED to upload a tracking number if you open a case, and the FREE SHIPPING is STAMPED ENVELOPE. So, if you open a case, you get a refund and BLOCKED. And before long, I may have to just PULL the cheap shipping option for EVERYONE because of a few who can't read. Cichorium intybus "Wild Chicory" or "Blue Dandelion", "Italian Dandelion" 2022 Harvested and Stratified~ Ready to germinate~ up to 90% germination rate with correct conditions AGE OLD herb, used for centuries as a medicinal plant~ the Chicory originated in Eurasia, and was brought to North America where it flourishes in the wild and will grow just about anywhere in the continent. There is a long list of medicinal uses for the plant, that range from antibacterial, antibiotic, to sedative~ and the root can be dried and used as a coffee substitute, which is an excellent way of getting the nutritional and health/medicinal benefits of the plant. You can also use the tender leaves from Spring and Autumn as salad greens, or as a cooked green (blanched/boiled). The leaves have a very high nutritional value, similar to that of Dandelion; high is Vitamins A, K and C as well as important trace minerals. Also a member of the Daisy family, It has a similar look to a Dandelion plant when young, but then will send up a woody stalk which will branch out into many, and get tall and scraggly looking but will be covered with small powder blue to periwinkle colored blooms. It will bloom from early summer right up to frost. The Chicory plants attract bees and butterflies to your garden, and make great border plants. These seeds were collected from the wild plants that grow on the border of our garden. They are native, and fully organic. I do cultivate the chicory sometimes here, but we have so many wild plants that there really isn't much of a need to do so at this time. So I just get seeds off of the plants that I dig up to harvest the roots from. The plants will get anywhere from 2 to 5 feet in height, and I have even seen some get taller than that. They need at least 12 to 18" of space between plants because they will bush out quite a bit. They are perennial, but typically only live for a few years before dying off. The best time to harvest the roots is during the second or third year, in the fall. The roots can be dug up and placed in dark, in cool place like a root cellar or basement, and "forced", to get the solid white leaves or chicons, known as Belgian Endive which makes a delicious salad ingredient! Germination time: From 5 to 10 days Planting Depth: 1/8" ~ sunlight required Sunlight: 6 to 8 hrs minimum for germination Start indoors 6 weeks before last frost date and transplant or plant seeds in fall outdoors Plant seeds or thin to 12" apart Days to maturity: 80 to 100 days **********************************************************************SHIPPING: I ship individual orders of small and tiny seeds in regular first class letter envelopes without tracking to save you on shipping costs. *****If you order 4 or more seed items, order larger sized seeds, or large volumes of one seed type, I will send in a padded envelope with tracking automatically with the free shipping option. *****You can request 1st class shipping with tracking, or priority mail/priority express shipping with any order. If you chose "FREE SHIPPING", please note that many times you will not receive a tracking number when your order is marked complete. If you do not receive your seed order within 2 weeks of the date you ordered, contact me, and I'll resend your order. I do not give refunds or accept returns on seeds, but I will most certainly resend an order that does not show up due to USPS incompetence. We <3 organic gardening and totally enjoy sharing the fruits of our labor with our friends here on eBay~ Every order is a blessing, and we want all of our fantastic buyers to be 100% happy with their purchase. So contact us ASAP if you aren't (for any reason) thrilled with your order. Happy and Blessed Growing!!!!
