Description: >> --> >> --> Description >> --> This is an open Nagoya obi made by Tokio Haneda, a holder of the Important Intangible Cultural Property "Yuzen". Tokio Haneda studied Kaga Yuzen and then Kyo Yuzen, cultivating a unique style that fuses the two. He loves Kyotos gardens and nature, and is particularly skilled in motifs of mandarin ducks and wild flowers. He has been highly acclaimed for his work, which seeks out the elements of nature, such as flowers, birds, wind, and the moon. In 1988, he was recognized as a holder of the Important Intangible Cultural Property "Yuzen," and although he passed away in 2008 at the age of 97, his traditional techniques are still being carried on today. This is an authentic piece featuring the mandarin duck pattern, which is synonymous with crepe. The artists seal is placed on the obi drum and is in a position that is visible when worn.
