ONE 1864 D & M & Co # 579 BRASS FACE MORTISE LOCK w/KEY - VERY NICE (16259) Vintage: Extremely well made, DAVENPORT MALLORY & CO, mortise lock Model #579, patent date of 1863 and 1864, still featured in their 1876 catalog (see pic). Completely reconditioned and comes with newly made key. FACE: Face plate measures 5 1/2" long, 7/8" wide, 1/8" thick, very well made mortise lock! BOX: Box is 3 5/16" deep from the back of the front plate and it is 3 3/4" top to bottom. SCREWS: Screws are on 4 7/8" centers. BACKSET: Backset (the distance from the front edge of the brass plate to the center of the knob post hole) is 2 3/4". DROP: The drop (the distance from the center of the knob post hole to the center of the round portion of the key hole) is 2 1/8". KNOBPOST: The lock takes a standard 5/16" knob post.KEY: Comes with one brass key and works perfectly.Very well made, functions perfectly, should be good for another 150 years!
