Description: This is a terrific reproduction of Robert Greene's New Map of the World from 1676. It is printed on linen and features hemisphere views of the earth along with smaller polar angles. There are figures in the corners representing Europe, Asia, Africa, and America. The printing is in muted tones with an aging effect. It has rod pockets along the top and bottom and is hung from a wooden dowel across the top with a rope hanger. There is another shorter dowel in the bottom that fills out the pocket and adds weightiness but doesn't show. The hanging dowel could easily be replaced with a more formal rod. There is one thread that is not fully woven into the fabric at the bottom (please see photo) but otherwise this item is in excellent condition with no stains or tears. 34 3/8 x 25 1/4 inches, linen only. Hanging dowel is 36 1/2 inches.
