This is a product from my hometown (Nippon). *Nippon products (stamp on back says Nippon) It was exported from Japan to overseas during the Meiji and Taisho periods to acquire foreign currency, and at the time the only customers in the Japanese market were the Imperial family and aristocrats. Old Noritake M in lease back stamp (1911-1918). The back stamp on the wreath has an M inside it and is either marked Nippon or Japan. This is because the U.S. Customs Office forced it to be written as "Japan" in 1921. Nowadays, Japan is widely known in English, but it was different back when we were making Nippon products. When my mother came across this dish at an antique mall in the US, she wondered, "Why Nippon?" and started researching Old Noritake. M stands for Morimura Gumi. The Morimura family crest, the "hanging wisteria," features an M inside it. My mother, who loves antiques, purchased it at an antique mall in the United States 25 years ago. The beautiful landscape is hand-painted, featuring a thatched-roof house by the water and autumn trees in the foreground. You will be drawn into the world of the painting. My mother often said that Old Noritake paintings are soothing. Old Noritake has several pieces that imitate Millets rural landscapes. This too was probably influenced by that.
