Description: ARTIST: Unknown. The painting is signed, but it’s difficult to read the signature. I read it as Alf. Joh. Jensen, which would be short for Alfred Johannes Jensen, but I must admit, I’m not 100 % certain. PAINTING: Oil on canvas. The painting is an atmospheric and well-painted rendering of a chicken yard. The rooster and the hen, as well as the male and female mallard, are painted in beautiful warm colors and are very accurately made. The rooster and the hen are resting on a basket and behind them is an opening, which leads to their indoor roosting place. I’ll date the painting to somewhere between 1920-1935. The painting is signed, but I cannot figure out neither what it says nor find a match in my art books. Signed: “Alf. Joh. Jensen?”. SIZE: With frame: 51,5 cm/20.3" * 41,5 cm/16.3". Without frame: 39 cm/15.4" * 29 cm/11.4". CONDITION: The painting is in great ready-to-hang condition - no holes, tears or missing paint. The frame has minor scratches and stains and a small chip in the upper right corner.
