Description: This 1985 German import double LP box set from EMI Angel (DSB-3981) features a 1983 performance (sung in French) of La Belle Hélène by Jacques Offenbach, with libretto by Henri Meilhac and Ludovic Halévy. Featured performers include Jessye Norman, John Aler, Charles Burles, Gabriel Bacquier, Jean-Philippe Lafont, Colette Alliot-Lugaz, Jacques Loreau, Roger Trentin, Gérard Desroches, Nicole Carreras and Adam Levallier, backed by the Chɶurs et Orchestre du Capitole de Toulouse (Chorus master Guy Lhomme), conducted by Michel Plasson. A rather massive (album-sized) 40-page booklet is included, containing album notes, photos, illustrations and a full libretto, all in English, French and German. (The recorded performance itself is in French.) The outer box is in excellent condition, and both front and back covers have no corner splits or other damage. It shows a small collection index sticker in the upper right corner of the back (Photo 2).
