Description: Each unit selected is for a pair or two (2) NOS Cheney #30 case keys. The guitar case latches made by Cheney from the early 1960's until the late 90's or maybe 2001 or so, were all keyed universally. This was done so providing replacements was easy and case manufacturers didn't have to track keys with each case. Victoria Luggage was the first to use them, but at one point in time everybody used them. DeCuir, G&G, Geib, S&S, etc, started using these in place of Presto or Excelsior latches. Everybody in the American guitar industry was using them at one point or another. Fender, Gibson, Martin, Charvel, Paul Reed Smith, Hamer, Jackson, G&L, Rickenbacker, Mosrite, Pensa Suhr, Anderson, Pedulla, On and on. This list would be shorter listing the period companies that did NOT use cases that used these latches. I have included a photo to help in identifying if you have a Cheney latch on your case. Usually they are stamped "Cheney England" or "Cheney UK" on the inside of the latch, but not always. Cheney latches will have the lock set inside the slide button, and the flip latch will be made out of bent steel. Modern day equivalents replacing the now out of production original use a die cast latch. The keys will not fit these locks. If you are unsure, send me a photo of your latch open and I will let you know if it is a Cheney or not. Sold as is.
